Frequently asked questions
What do you sell?
We specialise in exotic fruits, as we are the UK's leading online retailer of exotic fruit. Explore our different produce categories: exotic fruits, Japanese fruits, organic produce and soon a chocolate room section for a general idea of products you can find! We have a large collection of almost any fruit you can possibly imagine, as well as other exotic items, which we have encountered on our journeys across the world!
Is the produce organic?
We have an entire section of guaranteed organic produce in our shop! Throughout the other sections of the shop we try to source organically wherever we can. In order to ensure a reliable and consistent supply of fruits we have to work with many different suppliers, all of whom use different farms to procure their stock. This means that it's quite possible that one day we might, for example, have organic mangosteen but the following day we may have received mangosteen from a farm that doesn't farm organically. You can always ask if a specific item is organic.
Can I ask a question about a particular fruit?
We are more than happy to answer your questions. Our staff are very knowledgeable and have travelled the world in pursuit of exotic fruits so we should be able to answer your question. One of our employees has now tasted over 400 fruits – if it's worth having, he's had it!
What are your events?
Our events are fun fruit experiences. We are always open to suggestions on what events you would like! Find info on our events on the events page. At our paradise fruits weekend event for example, we had dragonfruit and passionfruit tasting stands, as well as flavoured ice cream, mocktails, cocktails and pancakes with passionfruit sauce, all free for tasting! Our events are free to attend and take place outside our store.
Do you have all produce available all year round?
Much of our produce is seasonal, so availability changes throughout the year. We always aim to have a wide selection, but some varieties may only appear for a short period when they are at their best. Any produce you see on our pages is not guaranteed to be there, but there is always much more produce to suit your tastes.
Can I reserve a particular fruit before visiting?
Yes, if you are looking for something specific, we recommend contacting us beforehand. We can let you know availability and, where possible, reserve items for collection.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there is more than enough parking available at the farm estate.
How do I know when a fruit is ready to eat?
Our team can advise you on the best way to enjoy each fruit, including how to tell when it is ripe and how to prepare it.
Do you provide preparation advice?
Yes. We are happy to explain how to cut, prepare, store and enjoy any fruit you purchase.
Can you recommend a fruit for someone trying exotic fruit for the first time?
Absolutely. Our team can suggest fruits based on your preferences, whether you enjoy sweet, sour, tropical, or unusual flavours.
Do you offer fruit tastings?
If you are curious about a fruit, we can give samples to try before you buy!
Where are you located?
We are located at Oaklands Farm Estate, Goatsmoor Lane, CM4 9RS .
What are your opening hours?
We are open Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm.

Our Japanese fruits
In Japan, gifting fruit is a deeply rooted tradition expressing high respect and gratitude.
These fruits are hand-grown with meticulous care to achieve flawless shapes, perfect sweetness and uniform colouring.
They are elegantly boxed and presented like fine jewellery or vintage wine.
It's always such a pleasure seeing customers go from unconvinced to
completely in awe after trying our Pione Grapes.
No need to go to Harrods; we have a selection of highly sought-after Japanese luxury fruits right here!
From Crown melons selling at £115 each to Miyazaki mangoes – a pair of which sold at auction for £4,000.

or read short summaries below.
The Crown Melon is a hand-massaged, single-stem musk melon grown in Hokkaido or Shizuoka,
famous for its perfectly round shape and rich melt-in-your-mouth sweetness.
The Pione Grape is highly prized in Japan, frequently gifted in elaborate, cushioned boxes.
The Miyazaki Mango also known as Taiyo no Tamago meaning Egg of the Sun,
is a ruby-red mango, classified by meeting strict weight and sugar thresholds.
It is highly prized for its intensely sweet,
almost candy-like flavour, completely fibreless flesh, and a creamy, melting texture.
The Fuyu Persimmon is a traditional autumn fruit valued for its crisp, sweet and non-astringent flesh.
Fruit is the future
As meat consumption decreases and the availability of plant-based foods rises at a staggering rate, the dietary choices made by the public are rapidly changing (recent statistics show that the number of vegetarians and vegans in the UK is at an all-time high). Our diverse population is creating a new demand for healthy and alternative produce. To illustrate this, a regular customer said: "Friends of mine that eat meat purchase a sirloin steak or tiger prawns as a luxury for dinner at the weekend. As a vegan, I treat myself to some hand-selected and tree-ripened organic mangoes and, occasionally, a whole jackfruit!" Cameron, London
Culinary use
While most of our fruits are suitable to be eaten neat out of your hand, the flavour and enjoyment of some can be improved if they are prepared in a certain way or mixed with other complementary flavours. Some of our dried fruits can simply be steeped in hot water to create delicious medicinal teas or mixed into the dough of baking creations. The frozen pulps of our fruits are perfect to be mixed with milk or water. Our delicious fruits are used by some of the world’s top chefs to create gourmet recipes.
